Problems 1-4
There are many problems throughout the text labeled IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Just relax. Do not be afraid to give your opinion. For the most part, these questions do not have "right" or "wrong" answers. You should spend about five minutes in answering each of these questions.

Problems 5-12
See Example 1; don't forget that you cannot divide by zero.

Problems 13-16
When using your calculator, it is important to know where to put the parentheses; see Example 3.

Problems 17-30
See Example 1; these problems involve mixed operations. Make sure to follow the order of operations as you work you way through each of these problems.

See Example 2.

Problems 47-52
See Examples 3 and 4.
