This World - Problem of the Day
"Well, Billy, can I make it?" asked Evel. "If you can accelerate to the proper speed, and if the wind is not blowing too much, I think you can," answered Billy. "It will be one huge money-maker, but I want some assurance that it can be done!" retorted Evel. About 20 years ago a daredevil named Evel Knievel attempted a skycycle ride across the Snake River. In this section, Evel will learn how to plot points to draw curves that are not lines. He will learn about a curve called a parabola that traces the path of a projectile fired upward. He will also find that the growth of money (which he, no doubt, earned from this stunt) is modeled by a curve called an exponential curve. |
