There are many problems throughout the text labeled IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Just relax; do not be afraid to give your opinion. For the most part, these questions do not have "right" or "wrong" answers. You should spend about five minutes answering each question.
You will see these street signs throughout the book so you should know what each of them means. You should be get all of these correct whether your instruction has assigned these problems or not.
Note that these are Level 2 problems and are labeled Applications. Consequently, you have probably seen these street signs outside of the classroom. Don't be afraid to guess if you don't know or if you have not seen it before.
These are a bit more difficult than Problems 32-37, which is why you are given a list of meanings to match with the street signs.
Don't be afraid to guess if you don't know. Notice that these are also part of the section of problems
labeled Applications.
There are no right or wrong answers for these problems, but you should write down more than one or two sentences. Don't be afraid to write as if you were talking to a friend.
We will not give hints to those problems labeled Conquering Math
Anxiety. For help with these questions see the book Conquering
Math Anxiety: A Self-help Workbook, 2nd edition (Pacific Grove, CA:
