Section 5.4 Homework Hints
Problem 5: Ask yourself what is being divided into x? Then multiply
both sides by that number, as shown in Example 1.
Problems 6, 7, and 9a: Ask yourself what is x being multiplied by? Then, the opposite is to
divide both sides by that number.
Problems 9b, 13 and 14: What do you need to do to both sides? (see Example 1.)
There are two thinks to do in Problem 13b: first multiply both sides by 3 and then
divide both sides by 2.
